Promoting Maternal Health & Gender Sensitivity in Collaboration with UNICEF

In partnership with UNICEF, Bhumika collaborated with Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) and slum-level federations (SLFs) to deliver gender-sensitive training on women’s health, with a focus on pregnancy and lactation.

Key Highlights:

  • Custom-designed messages were developed and shared with pregnant and lactating women, their spouses, and SLF members, addressing themes such as gender roles, health rights, and holistic well-being.
  • The project successfully scaled up from 40 to 65 AWCs and from 30 to 46 Resource Persons (RPs).
  • Ward Councillors were oriented and ward-level meetings were held to ensure women’s political participation and representation.
  • Through TSAT (Telangana’s satellite network), Anganwadi Workers (AWTs) were sensitized to integrate gender awareness into their daily interactions with pregnant women, new mothers, and their spouses.
  • A Training of Trainers (ToT)programme was conducted in three phases for new RPs and AWTs to deepen and sustain impact.
