Support Mechanisms

Support mechanisms

Bhumika supports women, girls, and transgender individuals through a 24×7 helpline, Special Cells, Community Centres, and specific programs in prison and hospitals.

These services provide crisis counseling, legal aid, psychosocial care, and livelihood support to ensure self-esteem and empowerment.

24x7 Helpline

Bhumika operates a toll-free, 24×7 national helpline (1800 425 2908 | WhatsApp: 94923 62908) for women, girls, and transgender individuals in distress. Professional counselors provide emotional support, crisis counseling, guidance on legal rights and entitlements, and referrals to legal, medical, psychological, and shelter services. Every call is handled with compassion and confidentiality, ensuring safety, dignity, and empowerment for survivors.

Special Cells

Aross Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Bhumika runs Special Cells in Women Police Stations and four Community Support Centres that act as lifelines for women and children facing domestic violence. These centres provide survivor-centered case response, prevention of violence, legal guidance, and community engagement, while also extending livelihood support such as tailoring machines and pushcarts to help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity.

Support Centre

Re-established on April 29, 2024, this Centre works in close coordination with prison authorities to provide psychosocial support, weekly input sessions, and creative activities that foster knowledge, confidence, and positive thinking among convicted and undertrial inmates. Upon release, women are connected to safe shelters and livelihood opportunities, reflecting Bhumika’s commitment to rehabilitation, dignity, and second chances for women and transgender individuals.

Abhaya Centre

Located at the MCH Block of Gandhi Hospital, the Abhaya Support Centre addresses the mental health and psycho-social needs of women patients as part of their overall recovery.
